Career includes: founding executive director, Texas Department on Aging; founding director, West Central Texas Area Agency on Aging, founding president/CEO, Disability Resources, Inc., Abilene; founding consultant, Rainbow Omega, Inc. Eastaboga, AL; executive director, Abilene Mental Health Association; lecturer, Dept of Theatre, Hardin Simmons University, and Director of Theatre, Abilene Christian University

Chris served as President, National Mental Health Association Staff Council. She was appointed by Governor Ricky Perry as public member of Transition Legislative Oversight Committee and Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness, She was appointed to Promoting Independence Advisory Council and Advisory Council, University of Texas School of Social Work in Austin. She was founding Board member, Alternatives to Guardianship and served 8 years on the TSHL Foundation Board of Directors. She is the founding curator, TSHL Archives, located with Abilene Christian University Library Special Collections. received

She received the Life Time Achievement Award from Governor Perry 2007, ACU Outstanding Alumnus of the Year 2008, TSHL Foundation Silver Star Award and TSHL Outstanding Leadership Award. and the Abilene Mayor's Physical Fitness Leadership Award. he was selected by the National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) to represent Texas, 2015

Widow of Dr. Rex P. Kyker, 5 children, Jeri (deceased), Rob, Lindy, Jan and Ricky; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Rex and Chris were married 50 years.
