Nancy Byler has served as Editor of the Silver Bulletin, TSHL Newsletter, and filled each of the three elected positions on the Education Committee. She recently worked a successful tax freeze for seniors in Brown County and the four taxing entities. The county freeze was done through a petition and voting process which carried with a 95.4% vote of approval.
A graduate of Howard Payne University and graduate work in Counseling from Tarleton State University, Nancy retired from the Brownwood ISD. after spending 21 years with the system. She has a total of 31 years in public education in Brown County and working with student teachers from Howard Payne University.
After retirement Nancy became involved in the Texas Retired Teachers Association where she served as both 1st v-president and president of District 15 1st VP, and 3 years as District President. On the state level she has served as Chair of the Health Committee, Chair of the District Presidents Council, 2nd VP, and is currently serving as 1st VP. On the state level she has served TRTA as Chair of the Health Committee, Chair of the District Presidents Council, 2nd VP, and is currently serving as 1st VP.
Nancy serves on the Early Economic Development Board as V-Chair and president of the May High School Ex-Student Association. She served six years as Regent for Mary Garland Chapter DAR, Salvation Army Board of Directors and Brownwood Woman’s Club.
Nancy is married to Rogers. She has 3 children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson, and the boss of the house – Dixie!
