I graduated from Baylor University in 1960. After traveling around the world, accompanying my husband Bill during his 30-year Air Force career, I retired from Electronic Data Systems, where I worked in management.
I am now an active volunteer.
I am on the Tarrant County United Way Board of Directors and am Co-Chair of their Public Policy Committee. I am the Chair of the Leadership Team at Richland Hills United Methodist Church and teach a senior adult Sunday school class several months each year.
I have been very active in one of the two major political parties. I currently serve as a Precinct Chair, and have been an Election Judge since 2002. I have been in charge of a major fundraiser for the past 6 years; and am a former member of the State Executive Committee, serving on the Rules Committee for 2 years.
I was elected to the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature in 2011 and am currently serving as Speaker Pro Tem, having previously served two terms as Chair of State Affairs, and on the Documents Review Committee during our 2014 session. I have traveled to Austin several times to meet with elected officials, and I have spoken to several senior groups in the area about TSHL, including the local retired Federal Employees, one of the local Lions Clubs, the Haltom City Senior Center, and a couple of church senior adult groups.
I am also on the board of Texas Falls Prevention Coalition, the 1VP of Programs of a local women’s club, as well as a member of the NE Senior Community Forum, a member of NE chapter of Delta Delta Delta and a member of the Baylor Women's Network. Bill and I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters and have been married for 58 years.
